The Dew Tour’s Skate Open, which has been designated as the ISF Skateboarding World Championships will be broadcast LIVE globally to over 150 million households in 11 languages across 48 countries and four continents. The Skate Open is the second of five events on the 2009 Dew Tour and will be held at Boston’s TD Banknorth Garden, July 24-25.

“We’re thrilled for the International Skateboarding Federation’s Skateboarding World Championships to be incorporated into the Dew Tour’s Boston event this July,” said Gary Ream, President of the ISF. “The Dew Tour has provided us with a tremendous opportunity to bring the Skateboarding World Championships to a world-wide audience allowing us to continue our mission of exposing fans across the world to skateboarding.”

Saturday’s skateboard park finals will be televised LIVE on NBC Sports from 4:00 p.m. � 6:00 p.m. EST with an additional Sunday broadcast featuring the skateboard vert. Eurosport and Fox Sports Australia will also televise the skateboard park and vert finals LIVE using NBC’s world feed production coverage. The Skate Open, ISF Skateboarding World Championships will have additional broadcasts on USA Network, MTV2, Fuel TV, Universal HD, and Extreme Channel.

“Boston has a great skate community and I’m excited to open the Dew Tour there,” said Paul Rodriguez, Mountain Dew skate park athlete. “This summer is going to be a good contest season with all of the international skaters competing and I am looking forward to skating with my friends as well.”

The 2009 Dew Tour featured a BMX (park, dirt and vert) event in Chicago in June The five-stop tour will continue on to Portland, Ore., Salt Lake City and Orlando featuring BMX, Skateboarding, and Freestyle Motocross.

British Grand Pix at Mallory Park will see the return of Zak Osborne.

The British Grand pix is returning to Mallory park, with Zach Osbourne who has made a startling recovery from the left radius bone he chipped in practise for the Grand Pix of Portugal two and a half weeks ago and is now set to return to MX2-GP world championship action for his team at Mallory Park for their home event this weekend.

The British Grand Pix represents the 7th round of the series and the first of five events in the next six weeks. Osborne, who was originally given a recovery estimation of between 4 – 6 weeks, has regained enough strength and confidence in the wrist to mount his YZ250FM this week and attempt his first GP on Uk turf for the English SQUAd.

The American and winner of the Turkish Grand Pix has been undergoing intense laser treatment and Oxygen tank sessions to speed up his recovery of the fracture. Steve Dixon the Team Principal said “Zach has kept his training up and has been having a lot of treatment., he feels his wirst is healing well but at the moment his movement is still restricted so we will have to see at the weekend about his manoeuvrability.”

Steve goes on to say “Zach will ride a small amount on Thursday and then ride wisely on Saturday to build up for Sunday.” He continued “he will push to do as well as he can but understands equally that two potential top 10 riders will help towards his final championship goal.”

Ryan Vilopoto wins AMA MotoX Over Mike Alessi.

Mike Alessi took a hole shot to begin the second 450cc Moto in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Early leads have been this guy’s forte since he started racing professionally at age 16, and letting Alessi take the forward position means trouble, for all the other riders.

But this time, specifically, Alessi managed to thwart competition by stretching his early lead to a massive gap, while moto-one winner Ryan Villopoton and Chad reed worked their way through the park, Josh Grant was running second early, but both Ryan Villopoton and Chad Reed managed to overtake. Ryan Villopoto actually got Chad Reed shortly before they double-teamed Grant, but Mike Alessi was already 16 seconds out front.

However, Ryan Villopoto Battered his way forwards, and passed the Tennessee – raised rider with just a few laps left. Ryan Villopoton secured the second-moto win with 1 – 1 scores in his first ever 450cc national!

Mike Alessi was second overall with a 3 – 2, and Josh Grant was third with a 2 – 4. Chad Reed was fourth with a 4-3.

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship took place at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino CA. it’s the first of 12 National Motocross Title Events in the Championship to take place this season.

Brighton is getting ready for the White Air Festival.

You may have heard that the 2009 White Air Festival is on the move and has been relocated in Brighton that is host to one of Europe’s Biggest Extreme Sports and music festival.

The festival is set to take place on the weekend commencing on Friday 18th September across to the 20th of September 2009.

The plan for this year is to give fans more pumping adrenaline rushes, even more great extreme sports, more competitions, more displays, more music, and having it in located on Brighton beach makes it more accessible.

Just a short walk east along the seafront from the famous pier will take you to the new home of white air on the beach at Brighton. The white air crew will be there in force, doing their stuff to ensure that white Air Brighton is Europe’s premier Extreme Sports Festival with an amazing live stage and fringe music scenes to entertain.

This years festival will have something for everyone, the ultimate extreme sports village will have the biggest ever free sports ramps, for skates, boarders and bikers and all the urban sports. Plans are a foot to host Europes top skate vert competition, and parachute displays by the Red arrows and the falcons teams have been booked. Thereill be nearly 40 “have a go” sports for everyone to try and world, European and British competitions on the water, on land and in the air. New sports such as Streetboard, Slackline, yo-yoing, triation, Aquathlon, Beach Volleyball and world high Driving will also be on the cue. Anyone for a powerfan jump on the beach????

Luke Burkhart break his collar bone.

Bad luck for Luke Burhart – the kiwi speedstar recently has broke his collar bone during a practice session, dealing a severe blow to his plans for the upcoming AMA Motocross season.

Luke was riding at a track called milestone and had quite a big crash, the end result was a badly broken collarbone. This has devastating blow to his USA campaign is a majour understatement. He landed at a funny angle leaving one of his wheels off the side of the down ramp of a double and high sided. He hit the ground super hard and immediately felt the crack in his shoulder. He apparently got up off the ground and knew straight away what he had done.

He broke his collar bone in several places where it was bad enough that it almost poked out of the skin, He is booked in today to with a doctor to reian in Temeclua for surgery. They will plate the collarbone and I should be back riding in four weeks. Doctor reiman is the go to guy for motocross riders in southern California so he should be in good hands.

Luke Burkhart goes on to say “this is a very tough break for me mentally as well as physically but as you all know our sport can be cruel. We will now re-evaluate and look at changing our schedule to do some races a bit later in the championship. To all my sponsors and supporters that have got me to this point I will be doing my best to get back out there doing what I do best.” He concluded.

US Police take up Paragliding to partol the streets.

The US police department are trailing a new way to keep crime down in the Palm Bay area Florida, they are currently training a small number of offices to fly powered Paragliders. the police will use this method once trained as a search and rescue operations and surveillance.

The department of Palm Bay, florida has been training four offers during a six month trial of the equipment. LT Mark renkins is training on the machines and says it is much more fun than patrolling in a car.

Phil Russman, a gilder instructor, says the police could get a lot done by using the Paragliders to help in every day duties.

The free flow tour now announces the 2009 schedule.

The free flow tour is seeking to find the best amateur skaters and BMX riders across the country this summer, announcing the complete schedule for the 2009 season in association with Gatorade.

The BMX portion of the free flow tour officially kicks off May the 24th in Lakewood, N.J. at the incline club, and registration for all events in the free flow tour is now open at Gatoradefreeflowtour.com.

The 2008 Gatorade Free Flow Tour will include a total of 20 BMX competitions (four BMX Vert and 16 BMX park) at 16 parks across the United States. The winners in each of the 20 BMX competitions will be flown to the Gatorade free flow tour finals, taking place at the dew tour’s Toyota challenge, September 17th – 20th.

Encompassing the “flow to Pro” theme that is the cornerstone of the Gatorade free flow tour, the two overall BMX park and vert champions earn a spot to compete against the pros at the final stop off the dew tour, the Playstation pro orlando, Fla…. October 15th – 18th.

For the first time in its five year history, the Gatorade free flow tour will be highlighted by a stop in “pro town US” held at the Jaycee extreme park, the Greenville, N.C. stop will hold a BMX park competition.

Also highlighting the 2009 BMX schedule are the additions of top parks 4 seasons in Milwaukee, Wis …. Solution in Muncie, Ind and windell’s camp in MT. hood. British speed skier narrowly missed out on winning his second world title.

Marc Poncin the British Speed Skier has narrowly missed out on winning a second world title, but he will be very pleased with reaching second place as he becomes the first British snow sport competitor to finish in the top three twice.

Marc Poncin 42 years old was the world cup champion in 2008 but this year, he was beaten to the overall title by the Austrian Gunter Foidl.

Marc races in the production category which means he uses normal skis and wears a standard suit, although marc uses standard skiing equipment, there is another category called S1 which is for those how choose to use specialist skis and suits which enable them to reach faster speeds, of up to 200kph.

Speed skiing is a great adrenalin buzz but is currently not an Olympic sport but there are hopes it will be including by the 2018 games.

Women skiers fight Olympics ban.

A group of international women ski jumpers are fighting it out in a Canadian court with the Olympic committee to be able to include there event of ski jumping.

The British Columbia Supreme Court has begun hearing the discrimination case, as the 15 women accuse Vancouver’s Olympic organisers of Violating Canadian human rights law by excluding them, while men complete in three ski jumping events.

The international Olympic committee (IOC) has stated that the women’s ski jumping is not developed enough to merit inclusion.

The Vancouver Olympic organising committee (Vanoc) argues that the decision not to include women’s ski jumping was made by the IOC, which as an international organisation is outside the jurisdiction of the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms.

With a lot of interest surrounding this case the legal experts say the women must convince BC Supreme Court Justice Lauri Ann Fenlon that Vanoc is controlled by the government and should therefore is subject to the charter.

Ski Jumping is one of the few events at the winter or summer Olympics that doesn’t have both a men’s and women’s competition.

The women are asking for a declaration that if Vanoc is going to hold events in Ski jumping for men, it’s obligated to hold them for women, the lawyer for the women, Ross Clark, told CBC news before the hearing began.

Lindsey Van said “ it just hurts not the have that opportunity” she is the world champion of the US, who was outside the Court house in Vancouver.

They all believe that they all train hard, and can complete as well as the men and we are not allowed, it is very disappointing.

A world record broken again by Danny Way.

Danny Way has broken another world record as he already holds so many world skateboarding titles and records that we can only dream about. This time Danny has only gone and broken the land speed skateboard record.

He has spent time out in the Mojave desert recently where he was training in a specialised wind tunnel, and an adapted hi speed low rider of a vehicle. After Danny had completed all his training he soon earned himself the title of fastest man on a Skateboard.

He wasn’t content enough with the compliment of being able to kick flip while signing another 7 figure invoice and chatting to his wife on the phone. Danny Way is a constant reminder that pushing your boundaries makes life worth living, or not at all.

7 things you didn’t know about Danny Way………

• He won best Vert at the 6th annual Transworld skateboarding awards.
• He won gold in 2004 at the first skateboarding Big Air contest held at the X games at the staples centre in Los Angeles, California. He set a distance record of 79 feet.
• In 2004 he became the only person to win the Thrasher Magazine Skater of the year twice.
• On July 9, 2005, Danny Way completed a 360 across the great wall of china with a severely sprained ankle.
• Danny also won another gold in 2006 x games Big Air. He did this by clearing the 70ft gap with a rocket Air Backflip.
• He won silver in the 2008 X Games Big Air. He did this after taking a brutal spill during his second attempt, which apparently left him a broken foot. Even with his injury, he completed his last three runs, landing runs 3 and 5 much to everyone’s surprise.
• He was asked to be a full concept of the new game: Skate asking to be a whole mission path, and being a playable character.
