The first 6 star event for the women on the swatch TTR world tour is about to go down in Kaprun, Austria and the all-girl event is shaping up to be the ever awesome kick-off to the northern Hemisphere season for which it has become known.

With Jaime Anderson (USA) current swatch TTR world No.1 not in attendance, the contest is going to throw open the doors for all the other top riders to snag some valuable rankings points.

After lying low for much of the southern hemisphere season, expect to see Torah Bright (AUS) make a grand entrance to the contest circuit at the Chicken Jam. She may be going for her second TTR title and a good result will slam her right back into the title race, in position to halt Anderson’s charge.

Jamie Anderson is looking forward to the event and Roxy has done allot for female snowboarding and those all girl events are a great platform for every level.

Another big gun that will be mounting an assault on the contest is dynamic Dutch rider, Cheryl Maas, who could move into the world No.2 with a strong tio 10 finish.

The German duo of Silvia Mittermueller and Conny Bleichcer are two riders in attendance who always push women’s snowboarding to the max. A top 10 finish could bring them back to the TTR top 25, something which will spur them on to raise the bar.

Claudia Flirir (AUT) will also be stepping it up the pace, looking to throw down some big moves and impress on her home ground. Snapping at her heels will be hungry newcomer, Sarka Pancochova (CZE) who has the chance to leapfrog her heroes straight into the top 10, should she manage a top 10 result.

The women’s swatch TTR title race is more alive than ever. All the riders are now in with a fighting chance, with the Roxy chicken jam giving a warm up session but also playing a big role in the victor.

Extreme has added a new range of power kites to its ever expanding extreme sports range; it first started with the launch of the extreme skate range in July. the new range includes four new signature kite styles, for range of abilities.
Power kiting is a fairly new sport on  evolving from kite surfing it carries the same principles as they both use a kite and board, its slightly different as you power your kite around on land with a mountain board under your feet. Land boarding is a rapidly growing sport with a number of clubs and competitions springing up all over the country. The four signuture kites can be used on a number of different kite activities from kite surfing, kite boarding, and kite land boarding.

The extreme range consists of four extreme styles for the beginner to the skilled flyer and ranges from 1.4m to 3.1m wing spans.

The extreme hardware managing Director, Joe Mogg said the increasing popularity and status of kite surfing opens the door to many other kite orientated sports. Has been quoted saying “These kites hold no boundaries and are perfectly suited to all kiting activities such as kite boarding, kite surfing, and the new one on the block, snow kitting”

The extreme power kites are made from high quality rip-stop polyester, supported by either two or four lines which control, steer and manoeuvre the kite throughout the ‘wind window’ to achieve both speed and power.

The beginners mainly use two line kites as these are smaller in size and easier to control whilst flying they can be used by anyone from the age of 6,and are able to give you a taste of the fun, from the world of kite surfing leaving you wanting more and more.

The four line kites are larger and more powerful and as a result have added features enabling the kites to be slowed, and stopped and can be used when riding mountain and land boards.

For a taste into the sport visit exelement offer a number of different types of extreme sports courses and experiences.

David Beckham show offs his extreme side during a new Zealand tour with LA Galaxy. The England player seems to smile as he took the plunge off Auckland harbour Bridge on the North Island.

He jumped a massive 130ft and ending up being doused in the water up to his waist, for what was the first Bungee Jump the 33 year old has ever done, he seemed to take it in his stride.
David Beckham did not seem worried before the jump, even sending a text message from the bridge, then he stripped off his top to get ready for his soaking, as he jumped in just a pair of jeans and white trainers.

Many onlookers were unsure whether he would jump as he looked over the edge in and wasn’t too keen on the height. After he had jumped and was winched up to the top he wanted to go again straight away!!

David performed the jump with team mates from the LA Galaxy, the American club he now plays for, during his tour of New Zealand.

It has been a tough day for all O’neil world cup of surfing competitors at sunset beach yesterday as round 4 of the ASP World Qualifying series 6 star prime event was completed in 15 to 20 foot waves!

The waves at this event were proving even to much for the professionals only one of seven European surfers could tame the massive sets coming in at the world famous location of sunset beach to advance through to round 5 of the final event of the year, Eric Rebiere 29 (FRA). The Frenchman also eliminated the fellow Frenchman and current ASP world tour No. 10 Jeremy Flores (FRA) as well as Irish charger Glenn Hall (IRE), found two solid waves to secure his round 5 ticket ahead of Philip Macdonald (AUS)

While current ASP World Tour Europeans Flores, Miky Picon (FRA) and Tiago Pires (PRT) all bowed out yesterday, pressure was upon German Surfers Marlon Lipke (DEU) who had to get through his heat to keep any 2009 Dream Tour hope alive. Unfortunately, the german ripper was not able to find a good enough back- up ride and was eliminated by Hawaiian Hank Gaskell (HAW) and former ASP world champion CJ Hobgood (USA) in round 4.

Marlon Lipke, who is back to No. 16 now depends on a few other surfers results to still have a chance to make it to the 2009 ASP top 45 and several scenarios can happen.

If Patrick Gudauskas (USA) gtes an equal 13th at sunset Beach, Marlon Lipke will move back one spot in the ratings. If Yadin Nicol (AUS) places 4th or better or Dion Atkinson (AUS) finishes runner-up, the German surfer will move back as well, however, if Lipke remains No. 16 after Sunset Beach, a big result from fellow European Tiago pires at the Billabong pipeline Master could give the Portuguese campaigners sitting on the bubble.

The surf is supposed to remain as big in the next couple of days and Eric Rebiere will be at ease in the solid waves, He will surf in Heat 7 of round 5 against Hawaiian chargers. Ian Walsh (HAW) and Kamalei Alexander (HAW) and kirk Flintoff (AUS).

On the 28th of November 2008 an extreme snow-kiting got a little more than what he anticipated, in the footage, which has been believed to have been filmed in Algeria, the snowkiter was travelling in circles on the ground in order to build up speed when all of a sudden a gust of wind catches the kite and sucks him vertically into the air, where he avoids crashing into a brick wall, he still refuses to let go of the haddle as the wind pulls him higher in to the sky.

The man in the video clip is believed to be named Algerian extreme sportsman Malikm Bouchenafa, friends and family watching below cry out in fear as he becomes just a small dot in the sky the wind buffeting and spinning his body in all directions, after nearly 30 seconds in the air he plummets to earth on higher ground, just a few feet from a formation of rocks sticking out through the snow, After his ordeal he has escaped uninjured, as he later is shown boarding back down the hill carrying his kite. Amazing!
